Abstract
Two of the foundational pieces of a research project are the theoretical frameworks and models used in them. This chapter explains why frameworks and models are important for researching parental involvement. Strategies for identifying appropriate frameworks and models are shared. Frameworks and models that are well cited and commonly used in parental involvement are explored, as well as some of the underlying assumptions about them. This chapter helps the reader develop the habit of making connections between definitions, research purpose, and frameworks, and models.
