Abstract
Baggy, black athletic gear covers Isaac’s thin frame. He stands 5’11” and tells people
he is Black, but his father is Mexican American. He has the beginnings of
a mustache and large brown eyes. He saves eye contact for only his closest friends
and family. I knew his stepbrother for nearly a year before Isaac would say more
than a few words in front of me.
