Abstract
Black-rimmed glasses with a missing arm perch lopsided on Kylee’s nose like opera
spectacles. She stands 5’7” with a round face. She prefers to identify as “American”
and does not necessarily embrace her Mexican American heritage. Although shy
when unfamiliar with her surroundings, Kylee has a loud personality and enjoys
being funny. After school hours she trades her white polo for a tight-fitting T-shirt
that accentuates her well-fed physique. Isaac and Kylee live in dramatically different
residential contexts, but they share a limited understanding of the educational process.
Both aspire to attend college. Neither has taken steps necessary to reach that goal.
