Abstract
Purpose. The purpose of this study was to explore the possibility that a relationship exists between size of an organization, payment methodologies, provider type, payment history/change in payments, location where CPSP support services are provided, and the quality of the prenatal care provided. Quality was determined as measured by the performance scores resulting from chart audits on compliance with the health plan's prenatal care standards as developed using NCQA and ACOG standards. For the purposes of this study, the population was limited to 480 MediCal women delivering in the targeted county within the state of California, during the study time frame of 1 January 1997 through 30 December 1997. Methodology. Statistical analyses utilized t-tests, correlations, analysis of variance, and eta coefficients. All research questions were supported with most findings significant at the p < .001 level.
