Abstract
The purpose of this study was to add to the current literature concerning the impact of stress and burden on Latino caregivers of patients with dementia. Specifically, this study identified protective and mediating factors of coping style, social support and satisfaction with social support, and the value of familism in the Latino caregivers' lives. The independent variables in this study were: familism, amount of support and satisfaction, coping style, and level of acculturation. The dependent variables were caregiver stress and burden. Pearson correlation results found coping process was related to the reported level of caregiver burden and caregiver's coping process was related to the reported amount of caregiver stress, respectively. Limitations and future directions are also discussed.
