Abstract
The purpose of this study was to assess if there were significant differences in the perceptions of organizational effectiveness between two academic colleges at the academic college and the campus level. During the Fall of 1994, a survey instrument was mailed to management personnel at institutions within the California State University (CSU) System asking respondents to indicate the extent to which they perceived certain organizational characteristics operating within their colleges. The study findings are based on 144 responses (a response rate of 67%) which represented 18 academic colleges on 13 of the California State University campuses. Study findings included, among others, the following: (1) there were no significant differences between the perceptions of management personnel at the academic college level, (2) there were significant differences on seven of nine organizational effectiveness dimensions at the campus level, and (3) the maximum effectiveness dimensions were Student Career Development and Student Academic Development, and the lowest ratings were Professional Development and Quality of Faculty, Ability to Acquire Resources, and Student Education Satisfaction.
