Abstract
Purpose. The purpose of the study was to determine, using the Delphi approach, the essential roles that expert school psychologists believe will be accomplished in the next 5 to 15 years in the state of California. Historically, there has been a series of conference which attempted define the changing role for school psychologists. The Futures Conference of 2002 was convened to identify future roles for school psychologist. Methodology. An expert panel participated in a three-round systematic, interactive forecasting method to determine possible future roles for school psychologists. Findings and Conclusions. Results from the survey resulted in following directions: Consultation, supporting student behavior needs, teacher training and liaison with community mental health agencies. These survey findings were in line with the priority goals from the Futures Conference of 2002.
