Abstract
The goal of the present study was to examine the various relationships that exist between attachment style, grit, satisfaction with life, and romantic relationship satisfaction. More specifically, the study sought to examine if insecure attachment was related to lower levels of grit, less satisfaction with life, and less romantic relationship satisfaction. Furthermore, the study also sought to examine if higher levels of grit would be related to greater satisfaction with life and greater romantic relationship satisfaction. Surveys were administered online by means of the Qualtrics system. Participants were recruited by means of social media outlets such as Facebook, and via email. There were a total of 376 participants in the final sample. Results indicated that those who were more insecurely attached exhibited significantly lower levels of satisfaction with life, romantic relationship satisfaction, and grit. Results also indicated that those with higher levels of grit exhibited greater satisfaction with life, but not romantic relationship satisfaction. Implications of findings, and directions for future research were also explored.
