Abstract
After publishing no volumes on teaching medieval literature in four years, in 2018 the MLA has published three new volumes in its “Approaches to Teaching World Literature” series that are particularly relevant to teachers of medieval literature at the collegiate level: Approaches to Teaching the Middle English Pearl (2018) edited by Jane Beal and Brad Busbee; Approaches to Teaching the Works of Christine de Pizan (2018) edited by Andrea Tarnowski; and Thomas A. Goodmann’s Approaches to Teaching Piers Plowman. Goodmann’s book is a pedagogically astute, thoroughly useful volume. Anyone teaching, or planning to teach, Piers Plowman should get a hold of this book immediately and read it cover to cover. It includes almost everything needed on how to teach Piers Plowman well, better, and (dare I say it?) best.
