Biography

Dr. Joshua Jensen is an Instructor of Writing and the chair of the First-year Rhetoric and Writing Program. He teaches courses in the first-year writing sequence, the Honors Program, and research writing in the sciences, as well as being an active participant in the First-year La Verne Experience (FLEX). His publications appear in Double Helix: A Journal of Critical Thinking and Writing, William T. Vollmann: A Critical Companion (U. of Delaware, 2015), and the forthcoming Dynamic Activities for First-Year Composition. Recent research projects include a monograph on rhetorics of musical sound in American literature, especially the nexus of music and ethnography in nineteenth-century American fiction and poetry, and a journal article on science writing identities among first-generation students at an Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI).
