Biography

Shannon Mathews is the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Her scholarship is in the area of poverty and aging and health disparities, and she shares a deep commitment to community engagement.
Previous to attending La Verne as a Dean she was a Dean at Savannah State University. Shannon's goals have been set to empower and encourage students and to work as a team and mentor to those who seek growth and development. Shannon Mathews received her Bachelors in Anthropology and a Doctorate in Gerontology with an emphasis in Medical Anthropology.
