Biography

Dr. Arellano-Morales is a Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychology and the interim MFT Program Chair. She earned a B.S in Public Administration from California State University, Dominguez Hills, M.C. in Counseling from Arizona State University, and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Michigan State University. Her research interests focus on Latinx health and mental health, shifting among BIPOC women, and multicultural psychology.

Teaching

I enjoy teaching courses from our graduate and undergraduate programs. I enjoy using various types of teaching approaches and technologies, particularly didactic approaches that allow for student input. I feel these approaches help create diverse learning opportunities. I enjoy teaching courses that enable students to apply the course content to their daily lives and the world around them.

Research

I am a Chicanx psychologist and my research interests reflect my identity and colloaboration with students, including Chicanx feminism, Latinx health, and Latinx mental health.  In addition, my research interests include shifting among African American and Asian American women, multicultural counseling competencies, and the college experiences of ethnic minority students.
